Heaven and Hell

It is interesting to note that our Lord Jesus spoke more about Hell than Heaven within the Gospels. This was and is a clear warning to mankind because He knows the reality of that dreadful place known as Hell. It was created by God for all those who reject His authority, His laws and His way of redemption.

These are the verses in which the Lord Jesus referred to Heaven:-

Matthew 5:12; 6:20; 7:14; 13:33, 19:17, 21; 25:26.
Mark 10:21, 30.
Luke 6:23; 10:20; 12:33; 16:22, 25; 18:22.
John 3:13; 4:14, 36; 5:24,39; 6:27,40,47,54; 10:28; 12:25; 14:2-3; 17:2-3.

Total of 27 times.

Here are the verses in which He referred to Hell:-

Matthew 5:22,29-30; 7:13; 8:12; 10:15,28; 11:22-24; 12:36, 41-42; 13:40,42,50; 16:18; 18:8-9; 22:13.

Luke 10:14-15; 11:31-32; 12:5; 16:23-25,28; 20:47.
John 5:22,24,27,29-30; 9:39; 12:31; 16:8,11; 17:12.

Throughout the entire Holy Scriptures, Heaven is clearly mentioned more times than Hell as those who believe and are ‘born again’ have Heaven as an eternal abode once they pass from this life to the next. Heaven is a place of comfort, of bliss, of perfection because our God is there. For those who are grace despisers, who reject God is this life then there is an eternal abode for them, the Lake of Fire. Truly, the fear of God brings about knowledge, understanding and wisdom as the Book of Proverbs states. (see Proverbs 2:5-11).
