The Depravity of Man and the Grace of God

Don’t tell me that man isn’t sinful
He is rotten, right to the core!
If there wasn’t a soul left to fight with,
Believe me, he still could make war!!

Above all things, the heart is deceitful,
The flesh is desperately wicked, it’s true!
These 2 lines are straight out of the Scriptures
They point the finger, (both) at me and at you!

Man is ‘out there’ still trying to conquer,
Unknown things that will bring him acclaim,
Yet he can’t tame his tongue or his temper,
He’s constantly looking for someone to blame!

Recognising Christ’s Cross makes the difference,
Just read verse 16 John Chapter 3
This alone is man’s greatest discovery!
It’s been here a long time, and it’s free!

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour,
We step from darkness and death into light,
He gives us power to cast off, all that hinders,
To conquer what’s wrong and do right!

Though things constantly alter around us,
Fact remains we must be, born-again,
Man can’t alter God’s plan of salvation
Nor quench the Holy Spirit’s flame!
