Revelation 14:1-20. Revelation 15:1-8. Revelation 16:1-21.
The Lord’s third punishment towards the inhabitants of the earth is seen in chapters 14, 15, and 16 – encompassing some very dramatic events that will shake the kingdoms of this world.
All of that which is to come in these chapters is to rescue the world from what it has brought upon itself. God has been patient and long suffering in watching mankind pollute itself with sinful acts. Freewill has its consequences but the Lord has not been silent as He has stepped into world affairs directing and changing people and events according to His perfect will and wisdom over the centuries. Man has clearly ruined this world through lust and greed resulting in the corruption of every system we have seen in history. It is inherent in man to do evil, to covet, to steal, to plunder at will. In chapter 14 we see a turning of the tide as God warns what is to come under satanic rule – defilement, desolation, distress, devastation, destruction and death for many. The cost of worshipping the Beast will have eternal consequences!
Revelation 14:1-20. 1 Song with 5 Messages from Heaven – by Message and Voice.
Verses 1-5 – Shows The Lamb (Jesus) with the 144,000 who were redeemed by Him. They
are virgins because they have not been with a woman, they are first fruits who follow Him, and are without guile in their mouths and without fault before God and the Lamb. They sing a new victory Song known only to them.
Verses 6-7 – THE FIRST MESSAGE – An Angel preaches the everlasting Gospel to every
nation, tribe, tongue and people. His Message is that
all are to fear God who made all things, for the hour
of His judgment has come.
Verse 8 – THE SECOND MESSAGE – Another Angel teaches that Babylon is fallen, that great city. His Message is that she has been responsible for making all nations drink of the wine of her fornication which has caused God’s judgment.
Verses 9-12 – THE THIRD MESSAGE – A third Angel now gives a Message that warns of
the consequences of taking the Mark of the Beast in
his forehead or in his hand. Many sadly will as they
worship the Beast and his image and it will cost all
who do to be separated from God forever and ever,
and they will never have rest day or night! Oh that
mankind would worship their Creator and Saviour.
The tribulation saints are encouraged to keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.
Verse 13 – THE FOURTH MESSAGE – Now a Voice proclaims that those who die for their faith in the Lord are blessed and the Holy Spirit says that they will rest from their labours for their
works will follow them, indicating a reward for
their faithfulness and works of righteousness.
Verses 14-20 – THE FIFTH MESSAGE – Next we are told that the Son of Man, the Lord Jesus as the Messiah comes forth to reap with His sickle. The Voice of an Angel cries out that the time to reap has come. Another Angel comes forth with a sickle and this is a Message regarding the Battle of Armageddon as verse 20 speaks of blood
to the height of a horse’s bridle for 1,600 furlongs
(around 200 miles). We are being told about a bloodbath that is to take place as the armies of the world come against Israel but Adonai Yeshua Melech Yisrael will meet with them in the day of
battle – see Psalm 110 and Revelation 19:11-21.
Revelation 15:1-8. 1 Sign, 7 Angels with 7 Plagues, 1 Song and Temple Sights.
Verse 1 – Speaks of a great and marvellous Sign in Heaven as 7 Angels with 7 Plagues come forth ready to pour out God’s Bowls of Wrath on the world when commanded.
Verses 2-4 – Shows us the tribulation saints singing their victory song as overcomers against
the Beast, his image and his evil mark. They sing the Song of Moses the servant of God and the song of The Lamb as they stand on a sea of glass mingled with fire with the harps of God.
Verses 5-8 – Then we read of the Temple doors opening in Heaven, and the 7 Angels with the
7 Plagues emerge having been given 7 golden vials containing the wrath of God as smoke from the glory of God fills His Temple. No man can enter until the
7 plagues to be poured out on the earth were fulfilled.
Revelation 16:1-21. 7 Vials of God’s Wrath poured out on the Earth by 7 Angels.
Verse 1 – The Command from the Temple in Heaven to the 7 Angels is to go forth with the vials or bowls of God’s wrath and pour them out on the earth.
Verse 2 – FIRST VIAL JUDGMENT – Poured out producing terrible sores upon the followers of the Anti-Christ who have taken his mark and worshipped him!
Verse 3 – SECOND VIAL JUDGMENT – Poured out on the sea which turns blood red (as
with the waters in Egypt cf. Exodus 7:17-25) killing every living thing in the sea.
Verses 4-7 – THIRD VIAL JUDGMENT – Poured out on all fresh water (rivers etc) which
turn to blood also! (as they shed the blood of the prophets and saints so God
gives them blood to drink as His judicial punishment – verse 6).
Verses 8-9 – FOURTH VIAL JUDGMENT – Poured out on the sun which increases in heat
scorching men who then blaspheme God instead of repenting of their sins.
Verses 10-11 – FIFTH VIAL JUDGMENT – Poured out on the seat of the Beast so that his
kingdom is turned into darkness, men gnaw their tongues with pain because of
their pains and sores and continue to curse God instead of repenting!
Verses 12-16 – SIXTH VIAL JUDGMENT – Poured out on the great river Euphrates which
then dries up for the Battle of Armageddon that will come – the great day of God Almighty.
Verses 17-21 – SEVENTH VIAL JUDGMENT – Poured out into the air producing the greatest earthquake ever seen followed by great hail.
This part of our study of the Book of Revelation started with warnings but knowing the hardness of man’s heart and his sinful rebellious nature God shows what is to come, and the enactment of this is seen in the next three chapters leading up to the return of the Lord Jesus to reign and rule with a rod of iron as it is written. At last there will be peace, equality and equity for a 1,000 years from the King of kings and Lord of lords.
The most important words of warning are clearly found in verse 15 of chapter 16:-
“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches and keeps his
garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
Adonai Yeshua the Lord Jesus is clearly speaking to Jew and Gentile, clearly warning and teaching those who have ears to hear and eyes to see to be ready. To be found walking in His light, clothed with garments of righteous and living in holiness of life. His coming will take many by surprise and every eye shall see, every knee shall bend and every tongue shall confess Him as Lord. Amen.
